Learning and teaching will become even more exciting in public schools with the launch of an innovative tool that will support classroom activities. Ukufunda, which means “learn” in isiZulu, is a mobile innovation in the South African education system that will promote equitable access to quality learning and teaching, enable teacher professional development, and support curriculum delivery.

On Monday 8 September 2014, the Nal'ibali reading-for-enjoyment campaign, in partnership with Reach, re-launched their literacy app on Mxit.

The Mxit social networking platform will allow anyone with a mobile handset to help put their children on the path to educational success with access to regular stories, literacy tips and support. 

Nkanyiso Biyela was announced as the overall winner of the inaugural Ibali Lami national writing competition on the 18th July 2014, at a prize-giving event held at the Department of Design.
